TELLING YOUR LOCAL STORIES TO THE WORLD (2)

This is a workshop provided by the ANCIENT CONNECTIONS PROJECT to support curious individuals and those with an interest in their local history and stories, to develop skills and be mentored to dig further into their community's past, and share what they find effectively. No previous experience is necessary.

This workshop is one of four FREE modules of training that will equip you with all you need to know about collecting, recording and sharing a treasure trove of history and stories from your square mile. It sits alongside three other modules:

- Collecting Oral Histories and Stories

- Using Online Sources (part I and II)

- Sharing Your Research.

Each module is supported by an informative, downloadable resource pack.

TELLING YOUR LOCAL STORIES TO THE WORLD

So, it’s time to share that treasure-trove of stories, history and information you’ve gathered about your locality with your friends, colleagues, visitors, customers... the world! But how? On this story-packed, practical workshop you’ll learn to sift the wheat from the chaff of the story, boil it down to its essence and spin it into an unforgettable yarn! We’ll even explore how to share stories through simple short films captured by phone! This will be a relaxed, interactive and fun session.

On this half day course you will learn:

- How to turn facts into engaging story snippets

- How to craft a story for telling

- Practice sharing information through telling

- Learn to create short, engaging videos using smartphone technology

This workshop will be facilitated by Angharad Wynne, Abarta Heritage

Angharad has over twenty years experience working internationally as a marketing and communications consultant in the culture, heritage and tourism fields. She has a background in history and archaeology and is a published writer and professional storyteller. She regularly works with communities to develop their skills in gathering and communicating their history and stories, particularly in a tourism context.

Felly, mae'n bryd rhannu'r drysorfa honno o straeon, hanes a gwybodaeth rydych chi wedi'u casglu am eich ardal gyda'r byd ... ond sut? Ar y gweithdy ymarferol llawn hwyl hwn, byddwch chi'n dysgu berwi'r stori lawr i'w hanfod a'i adrodd fel meistr! Byddwn hefyd yn arbrofi gyda rhannu straeon trwy greu ffilmiau byr syml a ffôn symudol. Bydd hon yn sesiwn hamddenol, rhyngweithiol llawn hwyl.

Ar y cwrs hanner diwrnod hwn byddwch chi'n dysgu:

- Sut i droi ffeithiau yn bytiau stori atyniadol

- Sut i lunio stori i'w hadrodd

- Ymarfer rhannu gwybodaeth trwy ei draddodi

- Dysgu creu fideos byr, gafaelgar gan ddefnyddio technoleg ffôn symudol
