About the Event

This workshop is provided by the ANCIENT CONNECTIONS PROJECT to support curious individuals and those with an interest in their local history and stories, to develop skills and be mentored to dig further into their community's past, and share what they find effectively. No previous experience is necessary.

This ONLINE workshop is one of four FREE modules of training that will equip you with all you need to know about collecting, recording and sharing a treasure trove of history and stories from your square mile. It sits alongside three other modules:

- Collecting Oral Histories and Stories

- Using Online Sources (part I and part II)

- Telling your Local Stories to the World

Each module is supported by and informative, downloadable resource pack.

This module is repeated twice during our HISTORY HUNTERS FESTIVAL.

You’ve done the research, gathered fascinating information and stories and you’re eager to share all you’ve discovered…..but how? On this workshop you’ll learn to write short, succinct blogs and engaging articles that can be shared on social media and with online history and heritage databases, to make best use of your research. This will be a relaxed and informative session, beginning with light refreshments on arrival and a chance to get to know each other. It will be held in a facility with a shared computer with online access for you to use.

On this half day course you will learn:

- How to write engaging and creative copy to share your research with a wide audience

- How to distil your research into the most important points to communicate

- Different styles and requirements for blogs and articles

- What online historic databases, e.g. Coflein you can share your research with and how to do so.

- How to upload your research articles to Ancient Connections own online archive system
